Disruption & passenger rights
Separate airline rebooking and refunds, legal compensation and insurance claims. Historical disruption reports are not current waiver notices.

- Refundable hotels and typhoon insurance: compare the actual terms
This page replaces an earlier storm-specific recommendation. Do not use it as a live storm or airline-waiver bulletin. Check the current official forecast and your operating airline's notice before changing a trip.
- Travel delay insurance: eligibility, evidence and known-event exclusions
Travel-delay cover depends on the policy's insured causes, waiting period, exclusions and evidence. A delayed flight does not automatically establish an insurance claim, and there is no single industry-wide named-storm cut-off.
- Hong Kong flight delays: airline options, treaty rights and insurance
For a delayed Hong Kong itinerary, check the applicable passenger-rights regime, the airline's contract and travel insurance separately. Departure from Hong Kong does not mean no law can apply, and a typhoon does not automatically erase every right.
- EU261 for Hong Kong travellers: check eligibility before compensation
EU261 can apply to a Hong Kong itinerary, but direction and operating carrier matter before the length or cause of delay. It does not guarantee every delayed passenger €600.
